The Eclipse series has proven to be one of the most popular expedition touring series ever sold to kayakers. With its outstanding combination of initial stability and speed, the Eclipse is the all around platform that has helped many people explore so many beaches, oceans and bays. So, how did our design team improve this design when the staff at Perception decided to update this popular series? First the team wanted to increase the secondary stability found in the Eclipse models while preserving its other hull characteristics. Second, we wanted to create an outstanding expedition touring design that addresses the needs of smaller paddlers and women. We achieved our goal with the release of two new boats that feature the best all around paddling hull to be released for expedition touring by Perception. These designs have flush mounted hatches, our new Aluminum Expedition touring rudder, and improved Liquicell seating. Additionally, our Eclipse 16.0 is designed to bring to the smaller paddler all of the control, speed, and stability found in the larger 17.0.
