Sometimes referred to as "divorce machines," tandem kayaks are a great way to cover a lot of distance quickly. If your personality, paddling style and pace is compatible with your partner's, you'll have a great time. If not, well...we can recommend a good lawyer.

Seriously, tandem kayaks are an excellent choice for long trips, as most have cavernous storage. The combined power of two paddlers (assuming they're working together efficiently) helps these boats rocket past solo paddlers. Plus, you can have a nice conversation without yelling (hopefully)! Tandem kayaks should NOT be used for solo paddling.
